๐Ÿ‚โœจ Welcoming Autumn: Celebrating Mabon and the Magic of Balance

๐Ÿ‚โœจ Mabon is the celebration of the Autumn Equinox, a sacred moment when day and night are perfectly balanced ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒ™. Falling on 22nd September 2025, it marks the second harvest of the year and is often seen as a festival of gratitude, abundance, and reflection. Spiritually, it is a time to pause, honour the blessings weโ€™ve received, and prepare for the darker half of the year.

The name โ€œMabonโ€ comes from Welsh mythology, linked to Mabon ap Modron, a divine child associated with cycles of birth, rebirth, and the turning of the seasons. This connection highlights the deeper meaning of the festival: endings and beginnings, the balance between light and shadow, and the natural rhythm of lifeโ€™s transitions.

Traditionally, Mabon was celebrated with feasting, giving thanks for the harvest, and decorating altars with seasonal offerings. Foods such as apples, bread, grapes, squash, and nuts ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‡๐ŸŒพ were enjoyed, while autumn leaves, acorns, pinecones, and candles in golden and red tones were used to honour the changing season. Many rituals focused on gratitude, releasing what no longer serves, and sharing abundance with others.

Crystals and herbs also play a special role in Mabon celebrations. Citrine brings abundance, carnelian sparks creativity, amethyst offers balance, and smoky quartz provides grounding ๐Ÿ’Ž. Herbs such as sage, rosemary, cinnamon, and chamomile are used for cleansing, protection, and warmth. Tools like candles, harvest baskets, and journals help to channel the seasonโ€™s energy, encouraging us to reflect and set intentions for the months ahead.

Together, these traditions, symbols, and tools make Mabon a time of deep connection to nature, a celebration of harmony, and an invitation to embrace the beauty of change. โœจ๐Ÿ
